Meningitis in your words: tell your story, your way

Meningitis kills 1 in 10 people and causes life-long disability in 1 in 5 people who survive it. Behind every statistic is a person and a story. Show your support for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Road Map by sharing your story. As one of our 2,030 voices for 2030, your words will not only offer hope and comfort to others, but you’ll be helping pave the way for change, ensuring the voices of those affected are heard.

What is Meningitis in your words?

What-is-meningitis-in-your-words

Meningitis in your words is a digital collection of meningitis experiences from around the world. Entries are written by people who have directly experienced meningitis. Our goal is to collect 2,030 stories – a figure to reflect the WHO’s Global Road Map to Defeat Meningitis by 2030.

How do I share my story?

Meningitis has a devastating impact on the affected person and everyone around them. If you, or a friend or family member has been directly impacted, or you are a healthcare professional working with those affected by meningitis, we would love to hear about your experience.

how
  1. Fill out the form: tell your story, in your own words, using English or your native language.

  2. Look out for a notification: once you’ve submitted your story, you’ll get a notification letting you know your experience has been added to Meningitis in your words.

  3. Share your story across your social media accounts to mark World Meningitis Day - use the buttons on the page or copy the link in the browser to your entry to post your story on social media. How will my meningitis experience be used?

experience

By sharing personal experiences of meningitis, we can raise global awareness and drive the change needed to save lives. All stories submitted will be included in Meningitis in your words. They will also be shared across our social media platforms to reach a wider audience and increase understanding of the impact of meningitis in support of the WHO's Global Road Map.

Why share your meningitis experience?

why-share

Everyone has their own reasons for sharing their story. As one of the 2,030 voices for 2030 you will be representing the voices of those affected by meningitis and showing your support for the Global Road Map to Defeat Meningitis by 2030.

"I'm sharing my story - not to frighten people, but to offer them the knowledge they may need to survive."

James Patrice
